Many of you will already know a lot about materiality in a sustainability context. I thought some of you might like a quick video introduction to materiality, either as a simple summary for your own use or as a resource for anyone who might be interested.
More than ever before, organisations are aware of the importance of sustainability to commercial success. In order to implement a successful sustainability strategy, companies need to answer three key questions:
- What sustainability issues are the most important for the company?
- How will it incorporate sustainability into commercial strategy?
- How will it communicate with stakeholders, particularly on sustainability issues?
In order to give you a high quality resource, I teamed up with Darren Chadwick (jolly good fellow) at BriteGreen (jolly good team) to produce this short video to introduce materiality.
You can also see another short video that we produced on headline changes to the new Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 reporting guidelines.
If you are looking for a more comprehensive guide to materiality (and forgive me, this is something of a shameless plug), then you can be guided by my book, Making Sustainability Matter, or enrol on some of the finest online Corporate Responsibility training available at Getting to Grips (by Toby Webb and Mallen Baker).
